How to best separate the family business from the priority of maintaining a strong family environment. Measure each family member by
a set of accepted and consistent standards by which everyone else is measured. Like in golf, you are not playing against your foursome, you are playing with the skills you have against the challenges of the course. You can’t give a fake handicap to a family member . . . Everyone knows immediately. It should be understood upfront that all associates, family and non are measured equally against their objectives and initiatives. Their is no need to get mom, dad or siblings in the middle.
