How we add value
What allows The Foley Group to add value to the owners, executives, managers and associates of small and mid-size private and family-operated businesses? The answer is rooted in Jim Foley’s 40+ years of business experience, with 27 of them in senior management. What made these many years, especially the last 25, more meaningful is that they were spent in several different industries with entirely different products, markets and sales channels and at times with entirely different sets of economic conditions:
- From 18% interest in the late 70’s to the internet boom of the 90’s
- From manufacturing, construction and service industries to the other side of the spectrum of high-tech hardware, software and motion control products
- In businesses that were small, mid-sized and family owned
- from under $1 million in revenue up to a public, multi-national company with over $6 billion in revenue
A major differentiator for The Foley Group is that throughout his career, Jim’s hobby has been to learn and understand what makes some companies hugely successful and what has kept others from reaching their full potential.
Most of his friends and former associates would agree that the reason Jim loves the Art of Leadership and the Science of Business is because none of his friends would ever invite him back to play golf the second time! His family and his business interests are his life and something he attacks with a passion. This 25 years of business research has clearly helped Jim see what takes place in great companies and what is missing in others.
Since 1987, Jim has been fortunate to be a driving force in turning around four companies. He has served in an advisory or board role with many others over those years. His practical knowledge base and approach to small business leaders, along with his ability to tap into other experts in various disciplines, is what makes The Foley Group a value to its clients.
When Jim recently retired he decided to continue his work in support of small, mid-sized private and family-owned businesses. His approach to supporting the ownership and management teams in these companies allows great things to develop from within. This benefits not only the business itself, but the owners, executives, associates and the other critical stakeholders.
